What better way to get into the holiday spirit than to take a cruise around beautiful Cape Cod to check out all of the various lighting displays. Businesses and families alike put a tremendous amount of effort to display their holiday cheer in lights. Here is our list of some of the Cape Cod lighting displays that would even make Clark Griswold proud!

For any successful Cape Cod lighting displays trip, you need to prepare properly. Make sure the kids have full bellies and everyone has used the bathroom before embarking on your trip. Stop at one of the “Cape Cod Coffee Shops Open In the Off Season” to fulfill your caffeine fix and cocoa needs so you are all able to enjoy the trip. Stop in and grab a small dessert or treat to make the experience even more special. These details will make the trip memorable for your family and create holiday memories that will last a lifetime.
Most town centers have a tree or lighting display to celebrate the season. Check out our blog “Cape Cod Holiday Events and Strolls” for a list of holiday events happening around Cape Cod. There is a Festival of Lights at the Heritage Museum and Gardens and the light display at the Cape Codder Resort.
A nice long trip with lights sprinkled throughout the winding road is right down Route 6A (or Kings Highway) from Barnstable to Sandwich. There is a variety of Cape Cod lighting displays throughout the drive that will dazzle and lull them to sleep as you travel down the route. Sleeping kids in the back means a nice and quiet ride home for you and your sweetheart on the way home to enjoy, just the two of you.
If you travel down to the neighborhood on Thousand Oaks Road, located in Brewster you will find a real gem. There is not a formal lighting display, but there is a variety of holiday décor and lights in this little neighborhood located off of route 137 between Freeman’s Way and Millstone Road.
Right near the Chatham and Harwich border at the Chatham Beach Chair shop, there is a very impressive Cape Cod lighting displays that is synchronized to holiday music. Turn your radio dial to 90.3 and watch the lights dance along to the music. The lighting display starts at dusk and continues through the night.
Travel to downtown Chatham to discover the town Christmas tree in the center of town. Along the way you will find businesses and homes that are celebrating the season, such as Marion’s Pie Shop. On the way in to town, right before the Ocean State Job Lot on the left hand side of the road, you will find a house with a variety of illuminated Christmas decorations. The abominable snowman, huge teddy bears and Santa himself are just a couple of the characters lit up on the front lawn.
There is a Cape Cod lighting displays located on 197 Main Street (or Route 28) in Dennis located right near the bend at Cape Cod Shoe Mart. Just turn your radio to the station 88.1 FM and find a safe place to park to take in the show. This light display is located right down the street from the center of Dennis, so you can grab dinner at Knockout Pizza or The Red Nun Dennis and take a cruise down to check it out!

next to Snow Library there is a large light display on the corner of Route 28
and Main Street Orleans. Trees are strung with lights and there is a variety of
illuminated figures all along the lawn to either drive by or stop and enjoy.
Stop by Friends Market or the Hot Chocolate Sparrow to pick up a snack and
enjoy with your family as you take in the display.
Every year, the Pilgrim Monument is decorated with thousands of lights, which is always an impressive sight. In Lopes Square, you will find the town’s lobster pot Christmas tree. Provincetown is festive year-round, but this time of year you really should bundle up your loved ones and make the trip up and take in that holiday cheer.

into town, take Route 6A in Truro. On the right hand side of the road at the
bottom of a small dip in the road, there is a house that always decorates their
home with a variety of lights and décor. The home is decorated year-round for
the season, but during the holidays it is especially impressive. It is worth
On Route 6 in Wellfleet you will find an elaborate Cape Cod lighting displays at the house next to the Dunkin’ Donuts plaza. There are large inflatable characters, trees strung with colorful lights and of course the big guy himself, Santa!
Unfortunately, the Luke’s Liquors house is no longer offering their amazing Cape Cod lighting displays as they had for years. Fortunately, the house on Icehouse Road is still showcasing their 4 minute long animated light show to enjoy.

Taking a cruise with your family to check out the Cape Cod lighting displays is the best way to get excited for the holidays. For that extra holiday touch, put some holiday music on in the car while you are driving from light display to light display. Keep this list handy when you are out and about so that you know which of the Cape Cod lighting displays features synchronized music with the shows along with the stations you need to tune into in order to get the full effect! This is a magical time of year for all ages and these beautiful light shows add to the excitement of the season.
