Why own real estate in Orleans
Orleans Homes, Neighborhoods & Communities
Owners of Orleans Real Estate enjoy access to several different waterfront areas – Cape Cod Bay, Pleasant Bay, Town Cove and the Atlantic Ocean. There are fifty-four miles of shoreline, a variety of recreational choices, arts, culture and great restaurants. National Geographic Traveler magazine selected Orleans as one of America’s best beach towns.
Orleans is located on the inner “elbow” of Cape Cod. The town has many inlets, islands and harbors including Town Cove, Nauset Harbor, Pleasant Bay, and Little Pleasant Bay. There are also two freshwater ponds that are great for swimming or fishing: Pilgrim and Crystal Lakes. Scenic Rock Harbor which provides access to Cape Cod Bay is a great place to put out a beach chair and watch the boats cruise by.
There is much to see and do in Orleans, whether by car, on foot, bicycle or boat. Active outdoor pursuits are plentiful, as are more relaxing activities such as watching the Cape Cod Baseball League play at Eldredge Park, or a play at the Academy Playhouse, or browsing the shops in Orleans Center. There are also many fabulous dining choices in town such as the Captain Linnell House, Abba and the Rock Harbor Grill.
Orleans Seaside Christmas is a month long town-wide celebration beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving and continuing through to New Years Eve. There is a breakfast with Mrs. Claus, hay rides, a candlelight stroll with caroling and tree lighting on the Village Green, and much more. Galleries, shops and restaurants compete to be the best decorated as they provide special treats and holiday discounts to shoppers.
In late September Orleans holds their annual ClamBQ Food and Music Festival. Enjoy a clambake, or a succulent barbeque that’s been smoked for hours. The musical lineup plays a mix of rock, blues, Americana and soul played by various artists all afternoon. There is a centrally located beverage court serving beer and wine adjacent to the main stage. The food court offers specialties from a variety of local restaurants. There is also a crafts fair and lots of activities for kids.
Enjoy a night out under the stars listening to music. Every August there is a Pops in the Park concert at Eldredge Field, featuring the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra. Other outdoor summer concerts are held on Monday and Thursday evenings at the Nauset Beach gazebo. Check out the Arts Foundation on Cape Cod website for the concert schedule.
Things to do in Orleans
Swim, surf, sunbathe or walk for miles at popular Nauset Beach. For a less wavy, more family friendly beach, check out Skaket Beach on Cape Cod bay, which is also where you can watch a gorgeous sunset. If you prefer freshwater, Pilgrim or Crystal Lake Beaches are both excellent choices. Rent a kayak at Goose Hummock and put it in right behind the shop at Town Cove, which flows into Nauset Marsh – a birdwatchers paradise.
Orleans Village Center is also known as the cultural district. From here you can easily walk to twelve fine art galleries, over a dozen restaurants, nine creative/artistic gift businesses, the Orleans Historical Society, the Academy of Performing Arts, the Snow Library, and the French Cable Museum, while gazing at murals and statues along the way. Various events such as festivals and holiday strolls can be enjoyed right within this area.
Outdoor activities away from the beaches include cycling the Cape Cod Rail Trail, hiking or biking the trails at Nickerson State Park in the neighboring town of Brewster, or watching the Orleans Firebirds play against other towns in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
