Why own real estate in Dennis
Dennis Homes, Neighborhoods & Communities
Owning Dennis real estate provides access to all the Cape has to offer. Conveniently located in the mid-Cape, you can choose between taking a drive to Provincetown or to Woods Hole. Or choose between taking a swim at one of the town beaches on Nantucket Sound or a long walk along the tidal flats of Cape Cod Bay.
There is something for everyone in Dennis from cycling on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, golfing at one of the three golf courses in town, paddling on one of the many Dennis rivers or ponds, fishing, hiking, shopping, dining – and did we mention the beaches? Bordered by water to the north and the south, Dennis offers some of the best beaches on the Cape. To the south, the most popular is West Dennis Beach which is over a mile long providing plenty of room for beach-goers to spread out and comes equipped with a large parking lot and facilities. To the north, Mayflower, Corporation and Cold Storage beaches are all contenders for best bayside beach.
The population of this historic seaside town swells from over 14,000 in the off season to 63,000 in the summer. It is home to the nation’s oldest summer theater, the Cape Playhouse, and offers many summer events such as arts and craft shows, concerts on the village green and Dennis Festival Days.
The annual Dennis Festival Days takes place one weekend during the month of August with an array of events all over town. Featuring an antique car parade, sandcastle building contest, craft shows, live music, capped off with bonfires and fireworks at West Dennis Beach.
The annual Dennis Christmas Stroll features horse drawn rides, trolley rides with stops at Cape Playhouse, 1736 Josiah Dennis Manse, Northside Village and the Village Green, Christmas tree lighting, a candle light procession, caroling, Santa Claus and so much more. Stroll through the village and visit the shops. Listen to holiday music at the Village Green Bandstand. Enjoy hot chocolate or cider and cookies at many locations throughout town including the Cape Cod Museum of Art and also at the Cape Cinema where you can listen to a brief talk about the cinema’s history.
Every May the Blessing of the Bikes at West Dennis Beach attracts around 1,000 motorcycles and over 2,000 people. You can stroll through, take pictures, and meet the motorcyclists. A lot of people look at this as a social event to start off the riding season, which is why it’s always held on the first Sunday in May.
