Looking for something to do with the kids on a beautiful day? Don’t take a chance on unfamiliar Cape Cod playgrounds and let us help find the best playgrounds for you and your kids to enjoy. Take the guess work out of picking one and check out these favorite playgrounds on the Lower Cape.

Brewster:

Eddy Elementary School Playground

Eddy Elementary School Playground - Brewster Cape Cod Address: Route 6A (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: No Parking: Good As one of our favorite Cape Cod playgrounds this one is located near Brewster center. It is one of the most popular playgrounds in Brewster because of its new playground equipment and basketball court. For parents, you will find plenty of seating to watch your little ones enjoy the playground, a couple of picnic tables and basketball court. Although most of the equipment is geared to older kids, the ground is soft and the entire playground is fenced in.

Drummer Boy Park

Drummer Boy Park Address: Route 6A (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: Port-a-potties Parking: Good The playground is split into a play area suitable for younger kids and one for older kids. On the right side of the play structures there is a giant play house with full picnic table inside. There is a set of swings next to the bigger play structure and one next to the smaller play structure which has the infant swings. Both swing sets have handicap accessible swings. To the right of the playground area there is a large field which hosts band concerts Sunday nights in the summer months. On the left of the playground there is a windmill and old blacksmith shop.

Stony Brook Elementary School

Address: Underpass Road (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: No Parking: Good This playground is close to the Cape Cod Rail Trail, making it a great place to stop with the family after a nice bike ride. This modern playground has large playing fields which is great for an after dinner soccer game or just letting the kids run off some energy in a big open space.

Harwich

Brooks Park

Brooks Park Playground - Harwich Cape Cod Address: Oak Street (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: No Parking: Great Convenient to Harwich Center and Brooks Free Library, this playground is right off of the Chatham extension of the Cape Cod Rail Trail. There are playing fields, basketball courts and tennis courts. The play structure is very well maintained, but in the summer time there are a lot of bugs because it is close to a wetland, so bug spray is a good idea. This play structure is great for kids of all ages, because it does have a lot of high climbing opportunities for older kids while still offering plenty for the little ones to enjoy. There is a small picnic area for snack time and plenty of grass by the gazebo for a picnic.

Harwich Elementary School

Harwich Elementary School Playground - Harwich Cape Cod Address: School Street (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: No Parking: Good This playground, named “Castle in the Clouds,” is one of the only wooden castle style Cape Cod playgrounds left. There is a playing field, small standard playground for the under 5 crowd, and basketball court with swing set. The smaller playground has infant swings along with older swings and tire swing. The castle playground has a set of infant swings in the front and older kid swings in the back with a tire swing. Parents of younger kids might want to keep a close eye on their children on this play structure, as it is not fenced in and the design of the structure has a lot of hiding spaces for them to climb into. This playground is ideal for older kids to unleash their imagination and play endless games of hide and seek.

Chatham

Veteran’s Field

Veterans Park Playground - Chatham Cape Cod Address: Depot Road (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: Yes Parking: Located on Depot Rd and behind the Community Center on Main Street The Veteran’s Field playground is located across the street from the Railroad Museum, and it is convenient to downtown Chatham. There is a restroom and water fountain at one end of the playground near the Community Center parking lot. Veteran’s field is home of the Chatham A’s, which is the town’s baseball team which plays throughout the summer. There are two playing structures on the playground and a swing set. The playground is nestled in between a small baseball field and the Chatham A’s baseball field. There are a couple picnic tables and benches on one side of the playground for parents to watch their children.

Orleans

Orleans Elementary School

Orleans Elementary School Playground - Orleans Cape Cod Address: Eldredge Park Way (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: No Parking: Good This playground is hard to find, but well worth the search! Located behind the school and down the hill, this modern and almost brand new playground has an impressive section for older children and creative area for younger kids. There are musical instruments for the younger crowd to enjoy, play houses, a large climbing wall (with a beautiful mural painted on it), and a swing set. There is a baseball diamonds, basketball courts, soccer fields, a climbing area and swing set. There are shaded picnic areas and plenty of seating around its perimeter of the playgrounds. While this is a favorite amongst the Cape Cod playgrounds, it is very large and high so it is difficult for a parent to supervise their child unless they follow them around the entire time. That being said, if you have a wonderer or a child that bolts, this might not be a relaxing playground experience for you as the parent.

Dennis

School Street Playground

School Street Playground - Dennis Cape Cod Address: School Street (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: No Parking: Great This playground has a small and large playground structure for children to enjoy. They are both accessible to any age group, although the larger structure is easier for small children to climb and maneuver around. There is a swing set and small rock wall for children to climb near the large playground. A water fountain for people and dogs is located close to the parking lot on the right. There are a couple of picnic tables near the parking lot near the smaller playground.

Johnny Kelly Park

Address: Corner of Bob Crowell Road & Old Bass River Road (Location on Google Maps) Bathroom: Yes Parking: Great This playground has a small structure and a large structure for children of all ages to enjoy in the middle of the woods. There is a walking loop with a Braille trail for the sight impaired next to the playgrounds that has a baseball field in the center. Basketball and tennis courts are located on the left of the playground. There is a large shaded area with picnic tables to enjoy lunch or a snack. As mentioned, this playground and park area is in the woods, so practice tick safety as they are a problem on Cape Cod and sometimes carry Lyme disease.

Mike Stacy Memorial Playground

Address: 29 Hall St., Dennis Port Bathroom: No Parking: Great Located right behind Main Street, Dennis Port this is the perfect playground to take your children after spending an afternoon shopping and exploring the recently renovated Main Street. This playground has climbing structures in addition to swings for children to enjoy.
